🌏 Setting the scene

Picture this - it's the 1930s. Radio is the main form of entertainment, flapper dresses are all the rage, and world tensions are rising. And then BAM! The Manchurian Incident occurs.

🎯 Reasons behind the manchurian incident

  • Centralization Efforts by GMD
    • Jiang Jieshi & the GMD: Imagine a friend who's trying to gather everyone for a group project but someone doesn't want to cooperate. That's Jiang Jieshi, trying to bring all of China, including Manchuria, together under one flag.
    • Japan’s Concern: This would have messed with Japan's control over its interests in Manchuria. It's like if you were using a community study room and suddenly someone says, "Everyone's studying here now!"
  • Increasing Chinese Nationalism
    • Chinese vibes: Think of it as team spirit but for a whole nation. This patriotic feeling was rising, especially against Japan.
    • Japan's dilemma: This would affect their trade relations with China. It's like having a fallout with your weekly candy supplier. No bueno!
  • Fear of Soviet Union and Communism
    • Spreading Red: The fear was real! Japan didn't want communism in Manchuria. Picture someone trying to sell you on a new diet trend, and you're just not having it.
  • Economic Woes
    • Great Depression: Picture this as the worst financial hiccup the world had seen. Japan's wallet was hurting bad.
    • The Manchurian Opportunity: Japan eyed Manchuria for resources and as a shopping hub for their goods. It's like needing a mall to both buy cheap ingredients and sell your homemade cookies.
  • The Guandong Army's Beliefs
    • Their Passion: Some folks in the Guandong Army firmly believed in their destiny of expanding the empire. Like if you believed you were born to be the school's top athlete.
