Party components

  • The Core: It's made of eight histone proteins (2 copies of 4 different types). They form a disc-shaped structure.
  • The DNA Twist: DNA wraps around the core twice, like twirling a ribbon around a maypole.
  • Guest DJ, Histone H1: This additional histone helps bind the DNA to the core and packages chromosomes for division.
  • Linker DNA: Think of it as the corridor between adjacent dance floors (nucleosomes).
